This nondenominational evangelical Christian organization provides spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Samaritan’s Purse was created by a man named Bob Pierce in 1970 while he was traveling through Korea, seeing the suffering among the children there. His goal was to meet emergency needs though churches and mission agencies. He wrote these now-famous words in his Bible: “Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.” Mr. Pierce ran Samaritan’s Purse until his death in 1978; then in 1979, Franklin Graham became president and chairman of the board. Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham, had worked in the field with Samaritan’s Purse and had a real passion for its mission. Through the leadership of Mr. Graham, Samaritan’s Purse saw incredible growth. One Cross Clinic Campbellsville is proud to sponsor this organization and Pastor Graham.
Mission projects include International Crisis Response, which is there whenever and wherever disaster strikes, providing food, water, shelter, medicine, or whatever is needed, all through the love of Christ. Operation Christmas Child uses shoeboxes packed by many people, churches, and organizations, with many different gifts. These are then donated to Operation Christmas Child and distributed by Samaritan’s Purse throughout the world to children in need. This sends the message that The Greatest Journey is a 12-lesson course given through the shoeboxes that teaches Bible lessons and Scripture memorization. U.S. Disaster Relief provides relief for U.S. disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, etc. World Medical Missions is the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse. They place Christian medical staff and equipment where it is needed. Greta Home and Academy is a home in Haiti for orphaned and/or vulnerable children where they receive education and are given an opportunity to grow in Christ. Children’s Heart Project gives lifesaving operations to children who would otherwise not have access to the staff or equipment needed. Operation Heal our Patriots sends wounded veterans and their spouses to the Alaskan wilderness, where they participate in seminars to build their relationships with each other and with God. Animals, Agriculture & Livelihoods is a training program to help farmers, herdsmen and fishermen from around the world to build a life-sustaining income. Children’s Ministries helps children who are lost in the world, living in the streets, begging, living off trash. Samaritan’s Purse gives them a fresh start in Jesus Christ. Construction Projects: Samaritan’s Purse helps communities grow or rebuild after a disaster by constructing houses, hospitals, churches, and schools, all while spreading the word of Christ. Crisis & Disaster Response is a program designed to help those in need due to disaster, famine, or whatever the need. Samaritan’s Purse puts boots on the ground to provide aid in emergency situations. Discipleship, Education & Training provides education in reading and writing skills, teaches trades, and helps people break the cycle of poverty via education. Feeding and Nutrition Programs help with food in starving nations. Health & Medical Ministries: Samaritan’s Purse provides medical staff and equipment in developing countries, while showing the love of Christ. Water, Sanitation & Hygiene: Samaritan’s Purse provides clean water and helps promote good hygiene in developing countries. Women’s Programs help to prevent abuse, trafficking and exploitation of women via discipleship, education, counseling, and training.
One Cross Clinic Campbellsville finds all these programs to be beneficial to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We at One Cross Medical Campbellsville Clinic feel that we are all called to do our part in being the Hands and Feet of Jesus. Some do it by serving at their church or in their towns and communities. Others may open a clinic to serve the underserved. Samaritan’s Purse serves in many, many different ways in many, many different countries, serving many, many different needs.
But a Samaritan, as he traveled came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. “Look after him,” he said, “and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.” Which of these do you think was a good neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? The experts in the law replied the one who had mercy on him. Jesus told him, “Go and Do Likewise.” – Luke 10:33-37
